Paper Published in Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry

Another part of Lisa Wagners PhD work was just published in Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry.
We have a long-standing interest on cyclase enyzmes that catalyse intramolecular oxa-Michael addition (IMOMA). This enzymatic transformation leads to chiral heterocycles that are important building blocks of many natural products and drugs.
In this paper we investigate the substrate-dependent performance of the cyclase PedPS7 from pederin biosynthesis. We reveal that this enzyme is broad-specific and provides selective access to specific cis- and trans-configured tetrahydropyrans. Remarkably, it shows a complementary selectivity pattern to AmbDH3, a member from another subgroup of the IMOMA cyclases that we have previously studied extensively.
Congratulations to Lisa!
