A paper from the group has just been published online in ACS Chemical Biology.

It focuses on Florian's work on Rieske oxygenases, enzymes that catalyse an extraordinarily diverse range of oxidation chemistry and have great potential as biocatalysts for late-stage functionalisation. Rieske oxygenases from natural product biosynthesis have been little studied.
By combining complex natural product synthesis and a specifically optimised system for whole-cell biotransformation, Florian was able to demonstrate the activity of three Rieske oxygenases and provide valuable information on their role in the biosynthetic pathways of antifungal polyketides.
